All About Information is a legal blog about privacy and access to information, protection of confidential business information, libel and slander and the law of production. It is authored by the following five lawyers from Hicks Morley, a Toronto-based management-side human resources law and advocacy firm.
Paul Broad
I’m one of Hicks Morley’s generalists and head up the firm’s Knowledge Management Group. I’ve been following privacy and information developments since the introduction of PIPEDA, and have made these areas a staple in my practice ever since.
I’m based in London (Ontario, not the other one), and enjoy a busy life with my spouse and our two children. No surfing or Beck for me, though I am partial to Great Big Sea & Newfoundland drinking songs (courtesy of my Newfoundlander spouse & in-laws).
This is my first foray into the blogosphere, and I’m looking forward to the experience.
Frank Cesario
I’m a litigator working in Toronto, Canada. I’m thrilled to be part of this blog, although a little disappointed that my idea to rebrand the blog “All About Frank” was politely, but firmly, rejected. Looking forward to comments and discussion.
Dan Michaluk
My name is Dan Michaluk. I’m a father, surfer and lawyer who lives in Toronto, Canada. Here are some things about me that you won’t find in my official Hicks Morley bio:
- Family: Seanna, Hugo and Penelope
- Pets: Buffalo the Cornish Rex
- Special Places: Kuau, HI, Halifax, NS, Avon, NC and Kingston, ON
- Music: The Allman Brothers Band, Beck, Big Sugar, Dire Straits, Foo Fighters, Mason Jennings, Old Man Leudecke, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen
- Reading: Any surf magazine (my collection dates to the 80s), John Irving, Tom Robbins, Wayne Johnson, Rohinton Mistry
- Sports: Surfing, Surf Paddling, Windsurfing, Running
I’m new to group blogging, but have a feeling I’m going to like it!
Natasha Monkman
I am one of 11 pension lawyers in Hicks Morley’s Pension & Benefits Practice Group in our Toronto office. I will readily and happily admit that my love of all things pension law makes me a bona fide nerd. A title I wear proudly.
Outside of the office, as an avid sports fan, I can likely be found in attendance at a Leafs or Jays game with my husband. I also have my shodan (black belt) in judo and, while I have not competed in a good number of years, I still throw a mean O Soto Gari.
I’m excited to be a part of the new group blog and look forward to discussing the intersection of all things information and pension.
George Vuicic
Greetings from Canada’s capital! I’m based in Hicks Morley’s Ottawa office, and practice in all areas of labour and employment law, including privacy and information issues.
Being in Ottawa gives me the opportunity to work in both of our official languages, plus I can avoid judo throws by my southerly colleagues, tripping over their surf magazine collections, or getting drawn into rowdy drinking songs (well, that can still happen on occasion, unfortunately for anyone within earshot).
I’m thrilled to be officially joining the blogosphere!

Thank you so much for the kind mention today. Actually your blog is at the top of my “Discovery Notes” list of blogs I review daily – so I do appreciate your postings.
Regards/Rob
a hairless cat named buffalo?
Semi-hairless – soft undercoat – and we were saving “Rabbit” for our first child.
Hey, Dan. Great Blog!
Dan, I’ve been dropping in on your blog for the last few months, and intend to put you up as a link on my site which tries to keep track of FOI and privacy developments in Australia.Canadians and Aussies are often guilty of missing some of the useful comparisons between our two countries. I’m at http://www.foi-privacy.blogspot.com
Keep up the good work. Peter Timmins,Sydney Australia
